Week 9: Bridge over doubled slaughter

The CCCP are disappointed. And when the CCCP is disappointed, so must scapegoats be appointed. Handily, those that may be blamed are legion: the original inhabitants of Cog-Port whose duty to generate profit for Lord Helmawr is as derelict as the port itself; the Lost, whose machinations have cost the CCCP almost as much to repair as Cog-Port’s machinery; and the gangs themselves, whose failure to secure any Gunk for the CCCP leaves them undeserving of anything but scorn, not even an elegantly constructed sentence. The knobs.

The CCCP, desirous of overcoming its disappointment, is fortuitously faced with an easy choice. Choose as scapegoats those on whom they bring retribution in some way, or choose as scapegoats those whose retribution may also generate restitution. The latter option chosen, the gang leaders are contacted.

Without gunk, the CCCP must turn to other sources for fuel and credits. And the gangs, or at least the Goliaths gangs, must turn to other sources for wisdom. Continuing the run of qualified good fortune for the CCCP, other sources exist - if they only can be made to work: These sources are the ancient Toll Bridges that cross the estuaries, creeks, canals, and streams of sump fluid that rise and fall around and throughout corpse town with the tides of the Great World Sump Ocean, separating it from the main infrastructure of Cog-Port. If they can be made to swing again, it may be that Corpse Town’s fortunes improve – both in terms of riches and chance. So tasked, the gangs depart, determined to be the ones who return the toll bridges to action and who receive the rewards for doing so.
